Yogyakarta: The Essence of Life
Visiting Borobudur and Prambanan left me with a simple realization: whatever is truly essential will remain. Time, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and human actions have all reshaped these monuments throughout history, yet their essence continues to endure. Beyond the teachings of Buddhism and Hinduism carved into stone, these places reminded me of a lesson about life itself.
Much of our suffering comes from holding on to expectations, identities, relationships, and ideas of who we think we should be. Letting go is not giving up; it is allowing life to flow as it is meant to. When we stop resisting change, new paths begin to appear. Perhaps that is the deeper message I found in Yogyakarta: what is not essential will eventually fall away, and what remains is who we truly are.
