Museo Chileno de Arte Precolombino

The museum is one of the best museums in the country, located at Santiago, housing artifacts and relics from the Mayans, Aztecs, Incas, and other ancient civilizations. The Maya, Aztec, and Inca were three of the most advanced empires in the Western Hemisphere. Each developed complex cultures and made advancements in calendar making, irrigation, and stone architecture. Originally built as a palace in the 19th century, the museum building itself adds to the historical atmosphere. My favorite pieces are the Chemamulles, wooden funerary statues, which remind me of the ancestor statues at Iban longhouses in my home country.
