Bada Valley. The Easter Island of Sulawesi
Bada Valley in Sulawesi reminds me of Easter Island, but far more hidden and rare. Ancient megalithic statues are scattered across the valley, some believed to be over 2,000–3,000 years old. Driving through the valley to discover them one by one made me feel like an explorer uncovering a forgotten world. The most famous statue is Palindo, the largest megalith believed to represent a male figure. My favourite is the buffalo-shaped statue resting quietly in the rice field, a silent mystery left behind by an ancient tribe.
