Starry Nights & Mosaic Dreams. An Artistic Exploration in Spain

As part of my Live Like a Local project in Spain, I immersed myself in the local art scene by joining a fluorescent paint workshop; painting in the dark, inspired by the footsteps of Vincent Van Gogh. My dream? To recreate Starry Night as my personal masterpiece.

In the workshop, I learned special techniques, especially how to prioritize certain colors when using fluorescent paints. The most inspiring part was painting in darkness, just like Van Gogh did. He’s always been one of my favorite artists, along with Pablo Picasso.

I also explored another side of Spanish creativity through Trencadís, the mosaic art made famous by Antoni Gaudí. I joined a workshop with locals, where we cut and assembled broken ceramic pieces to create our own designs. To honor Gaudí and for a bit of fun, I chose to make a dinosaur, my favorite animal. It was surprisingly easy and fun to do! Do you like my creation?
